Leaving Cert Results 2017

This week the Class of 2017 will receive their Leaving Cert Results. To all those young people, Remember this; Your gifts and talents, can never be measured, by any points system. You are both unique and immeasurably more than any points system can define.

In this week of Leaving Cert results it is worth remembering: “At the end of our lives we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we made or how many great things we did. We will be judged by: I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless and you took me in.” Blessed Teresa of Calcutta.

The Leaving Cert is a time of transition and opportunity, a challenging time, hopefully when life's bigger picture offers a context and healthy perspective to young people. Perhaps this simple prayer offers my best advice, "This too will pass". Sure there is life after the Leaving Cert, but when it is happening, one can be consumed by its enormity, expectation, anxiety and pressure.

We in Holy Redeemer wish you all the happiness in the world and if you ever need to talk or just for someone to listen, the door is always open. I offer you this prayer during these coming weeks.

Every good wish to the class of 2017.

My Lord God,

I have no idea where I am going,

I do not see the road ahead of me, nor do I really know myself,

And the fact that I think I am following Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so,

But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You,

And I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire,

And I know that if I do this, You will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it,

Therefore I will trust You always though,

I may seem to be lost and in the shadow of death, I will not fear, for You are ever with me,

And You will never leave me to face my struggles alone. Amen.
